Sample Collection Instructions
The sample required for this test is 6 mL of whole blood collected in 2 Blue Top (Sodium Citrate) tubes. It is crucial to mix the samples thoroughly by inversion and transport them to the lab within 4 hours. If immediate transport is not possible, it is important to prepare Platelet Poor Plasma (PPP) by centrifuging the sample at 3600 rpm for 15 minutes and transferring the supernatant to a clean plastic tube. This supernatant should be centrifuged again and the final PPP should be frozen immediately for shipment. Overnight fasting is preferred, and a duly filled Coagulation Requisition Form (Form 15) is mandatory.
