Sample Collection and Instructions
To perform the Heparin Anti Xa Test, a sample of 2 mL (1 mL min.) of platelet-poor plasma is required from 2 Blue Top (Sodium Citrate) tubes. It is crucial to make platelet-poor plasma within 1 hour of collection by following these steps:
- Centrifuge the sample at 3600 rpm for 15 minutes.
- Transfer the supernatant to a clean plastic tube.
- Centrifuge this supernatant again at 3600 rpm for 15 minutes.
- Transfer the final supernatant (PPP) to one labeled, clean plastic screw-capped vial.
- Freeze immediately and ship frozen. DO NOT THAW.
A duly filled Test Send Out Consent Form (Form 35) is mandatory for processing.
