For accurate results, the sample must be collected between 13-24 weeks of gestation. The sample type required is 3 ml (1 mL min.) of amniotic fluid in a sterile screw-capped vial. It is important to avoid blood contamination during collection. Additionally, the Test Request Form must indicate gestational age, collection date, clinical indications, and, if available, the AFP and MoM results. A duly filled Test Send Out Consent Form (Form 35) is mandatory.
