How to Prepare for the Test
For optimal results, please follow these pre-test instructions:
- Overnight fasting is preferred.
- Complete a Duly filled Coagulation Requisition Form (Form 15).
- Discontinue Heparin for 1 day and Oral Anticoagulants for 7 days prior to sampling (with prior consent from your physician).
Sample Collection and Turnaround Time
The sample required for the Factor II Functional Test is 3 mL of whole blood collected in a Blue Top (Sodium Citrate) tube. It is essential to mix the sample thoroughly by inversion and transport it to the lab within 4 hours. If immediate transport is not possible, make platelet-poor plasma (PPP) within 1 hour of collection and freeze it immediately.
Turnaround time for results is typically one day, with samples collected by Thursday at 9 AM yielding results the next day.
