Lupus Anticoagulant Panel (LAC Panel) Test
Introduction
The Lupus Anticoagulant Panel (LAC Panel) Test is a vital diagnostic tool used to evaluate patients for thromboembolic disorders. These disorders can lead to serious complications, including deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. The test is important for identifying the presence of lupus anticoagulants, which are antibodies that can interfere with the normal blood clotting process.
What the Test Measures
This panel assesses several key components related to coagulation:
- Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT)
- Prothrombin Time Test – Lupus Anticoagulant (PTT-LA)
- Dilute Russell’s Viper Venom Time (dRVVT)
Who Should Consider This Test
This test is recommended for individuals who exhibit symptoms or have risk factors for thromboembolic disorders, such as:
- Unexplained blood clots
- Family history of clotting disorders
- Autoimmune diseases, especially lupus
Benefits of Taking the Test
Taking the Lupus Anticoagulant Panel (LAC Panel) Test offers several benefits:
- Early detection of potential thromboembolic disorders
- Guidance for treatment options based on test results
