Patients should avoid taking antacids, aluminium-containing medications, and sea/freshwater fish at least 3 days prior to specimen collection. If Gadolinium or iodine-containing contrast media has been administered, the specimen should not be collected for 96 hours. Specimens must be shipped refrigerated or frozen, and powderless gloves should be used during collection.
