Lead exposure can occur through various sources, including industrial work, contaminated water, and old paint. High levels of lead can lead to severe health complications, including neurological damage, especially in children. This test is essential for identifying lead toxicity early, allowing for timely medical intervention.
What the Test Measures
This test specifically measures the concentration of lead in the blood. It is performed using advanced techniques such as Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) with Zeeman correction, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
Who Should Consider This Test?
Individuals who may be at risk of lead exposure should consider this test. Symptoms of lead poisoning can include:
- Abdominal pain
- Constipation
- Fatigue
- Headaches
- Irritability
Risk factors include living in older homes, working in industries that use lead, or exposure to lead-containing products.
